Case Study

Coordinating Craydel's Due Diligence to Close a $1.3M USD Investment Deal

Craydel Inc.
Craydel Inc.

When Craydel entered a formal due diligence process for a planned investment, the company needed every financial and legal document ready, accurate and defensible within a compressed timeline. As the finance lead on the ground, I worked with my CFO to scope the requirements, then coordinated with the due diligence firm directly to remove any ambiguity before compilation began. I led the compilation of every financial document, report and disclosure the investors requested. The process held, and Craydel closed the deal at $1.3M USD early in the following year.

Context

Craydel operates finance across five countries including the USA, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria and Zimbabwe, which meant due diligence would need to reconcile records from more than one jurisdiction at once. As Head of Finance, I was the single point of accountability for making sure every number and document the investors requested was accurate and ready.

The Challenge

Due diligence processes fail as often on document readiness and clarity as they do on the underlying numbers. The requirements list from the due diligence firm covered both financial and legal material, and without early clarity on scope, the process risked stalling on repeated back-and-forth requests.

Strategic Approach

How the Work Got Done

1

Scoping

I sat down with my CFO to draft a full task list covering every financial and legal requirement the due diligence firm would need.

2

Alignment

I held a direct meeting with the due diligence company to walk through every requirement line by line, removing ambiguity before compilation started.

3

Delivery

I coordinated the compilation of every document, report and disclosure requested, keeping Craydel's side of the process moving without delay.

Quantifiable Outcomes

The Numbers Behind the Work

Qualitative Achievements

Beyond the Numbers

Compiled and delivered every financial and legal document the due diligence firm requested, on schedule.
Positioned Craydel as investment-ready to an external due diligence firm evaluating five countries of financial operations at once.
Built direct working trust with the due diligence company through early, transparent scoping conversations.
Demonstrated that a lean finance function, led remotely, could support an investment-grade due diligence process.
Due diligence succeeds or fails on preparation and clarity of scope, not on the size of the finance team running it.

The deal closing at $1.3M USD confirmed that Craydel's finance function could withstand external investor scrutiny across every market it operated in. It remains one of the clearest proofs that my approach to cross-border compliance holds up when the stakes are highest.
